BetBlocker, a free gambling blocking app, has confirmed its commitment to fighting against gambling harm by introducing French language support in the latest app update. The UK and US company which is charity based now provides access via their app to millions of French-speaking users around the world.
The charity has talked about expansion and with the new update to its free app, accesses will be available to Francophones in France, Canada, and parts of Africa. According to figures, an estimated 34 million gamblers are based in France and that doesn't account for the French-speaking gamblers in Canada or Africa.
French Canadians Can Now Use BetBlocker
With the addition of French, BetBlocker now supports a total of 20 languages and founder and trustee Duncan Garvie said, "I'm really pleased to open up BetBlocker to French-speaking communities. With the recent launch of the US arm of our charity, raising our profile in North America is a strategic priority. This launch helps us support our French-Canadian friends."
Founder Garvie was one of the guest speakers at the Playsponsible Academy in Vienna on the 3rd of April. Playsponsible is also committed to player protection and offers protective measures that aim to provide information and raise awareness.
Speaking about the BetBlocker French support update, he also said, "I'm always keen to do whatever we can to support the emerging marking in Africa. This is an underserved community where a free and anonymous service like BetBlocker can make a meaningful difference to a lot of lives." He also went on to thank Xavi D. and Christina Theophilos who worked tirelessly to add the translation.

As well as being able to block access for users, it also has parental controls that allow users to restrict access to both gambling and other adult content while children are using a device the app is installed on.
Responsible Gambling in Canada
Responsible gambling is a priority for many of the provincial governments and this includes Canadian online casinos and sportsbooks. Increased activity over the years has seen gambling-related harm rise and a focus on responsible gambling has been something that regulators are keen to address.
Provinces such as Ontario, British Columbia, and Quebec have their own gaming authorities and responsible gambling programs such as PlaySmart from OLG, GameSense from BCLC, and AideJeu in Quebec. These programs provide tools and support for players including self-exclusion and access to professional help.
